The BAFTA, the herald of the approach of the Oscar, known as the most prestigious award in the cinema world, was officially held. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts chose the best of the year and handed out the awards. Dune, which was nominated in 11 categories within the scope of BAFTA 2022, made its name in history even though it received only 5 awards.
BAFTA officials announced that the best movie of the year was “The Power Of Dog“, which was released at the end of last year. The cowboy themed movie released on Netflix was also nominated for an Oscar. Jane Campion directed the film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Savage. Jane Campion was also awarded the best director award at the BAFTA 2022.
The Power of The Dog won Best Film, while Dune took home five awards. Jane Campion won Director but also unable to attend the ceremony. Cast member Benedict Cumberbatch collected the honor of her behalf.
